Attributes: Evergreen. Small greenish flowers formed on the center of the leaf.  Dark buds.  Glossy, serrated foliage with dark stems.  New foliage emerges with an purple.  Multi-stemmed shrub.  Separate male and female plants.  These have larger, glossy leaves than Helwingia chinensis.
